The Department of Life Sciences was started in the year 2000, with the aim of providing comprehensive inputs to aspiring students in the field of Life Sciences. Realizing the immense potential of the life science sector in opening up new avenues of employment and the need for skilled and trained human resources, the Department of Life Sciences of the college offers B.Sc. programmes.

 The Department of Life Sciences was established with a vision to provide ‘Knowledge and Excellence in basic and applied sciences’ and functions towards its mission to educate students through their graduate programmes by providing experienced advisors, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and a rationalized curriculum that helps build confidence in them to take up challenges and excel in their career. With the commitment of the faculty members to educational excellence, well equipped and state–of-the-art laboratories for different programmes. The Department strives to serve the students in enhancing their scientific temperament and enable them to prove scholarly knowledge in various emerging fields of Life Sciences.

The syllabus of B.Sc covers the latest information available and technical innovations in the respective majors and related subjects. The curriculum is designed based on current needs of the industries and various sectors, so that employability can be improved. We encourage and emphasize student research activities through add on programmes and minor projects. The other priorities include developing entrepreneurship skills and grooming students to become future scientists.

Mrs. N.M. Deepa Completed her Masters Degree in applied Micro Biology from Periyar University, Salem. She is the top ranker in Campus. She is a versatile person with hard working, dedicated and Motivates students towards science by conducting programs life Sciences PPT Projects, Nutritional day, Blood Testing Programs & Science Based industrial visits. With her inspiration, 100’s of students choosen their path in Bio Technology & Research. She is teaching in the Department of Life Sciences in VSADC from 2011 to till date. 

Being a highly refined and sophisticated discipline, the department of Life Sciences is complied by having experienced faculty with a rich and varied teaching exposure.  The department incessantly aims to train students by imparting them latest industry required knowledge in the fields of Biotechnology, Chemistry and other allied areas.

Besides encouraging students to become proficient in their academic arena, the Department of Life Sciences motivates them to participate in various personality enhancing activities.  Professionals from industrial laboratories, visit the department to give guest lectures and seminars on the latest developments and industry practices in Biotechnology & Chemistry. B.Sc Students can easily make a career in Leading Industries, for which the department conducts value added programmes in life sciences to prepare the students for their prospective careers.
