Anti Ragging

As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent Notification from University Grants Commission (UGC), ragging constitutes any act resulting in:

  • Mental/ Physical/ Sexual Abuse
  • Verbal Abuse
  • Indecent Behavior
  • Criminal Intimidation/Wrongful Restraint
  • Undermining Human Dignity
  • Financial Exploitation/Extortion
  • Use of Force

Any Student Indulging in Ragging can be:

  • Cancellation of admission
  • Suspension from attending Classes
  • Withholding/Withdrawing Scholarship/Fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the Institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament or youth festival etc.
  • Collective Punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified the Institution shall restore to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on potential ragger

OBJECTIVES:

The main objectives of this committee are as follows:

  • To prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
  • To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
  • To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
  • To establish a cordial relationship between seniors and juniors.
  • To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.
  • To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.
  • Committee members are requested to meet at least once in a  semester or as often ad required to resolve and address ragging issues if any on campus.
  • All members are also requested to make every effort to keep the campus ragging free.

Anti Ragging Mechanism

The mechanism of educational institutions should incorporate Anti-Ragging Committee as one of the important parts as per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which is modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in higher Educational Institutions, 2009.

Anti-Ragging Committee will be the supervisory and advisory committee in preserving a Culture of Ragging Free Environment in the college Campus. The institution has been addressing ragging issues, if any, of various students through the committee.

We, the Students, Teaching, Non-Teaching and Administrative staff of this college firmly resolve to take a pledge today that we withstand united in making this College “ Ragging Free ” College and We will not involve in ragging either in deed, action and thought in our personal lives. We will promote fraternity and brotherhood with dignity to make this College a “Ragging Free” College.
